Here is a video tutorial on how to use magnets

Get a lot of questions about the Tyvek envelopes where to find them and what similar products can be used.
You can find them in office supply stores, Amazon and on Ebay. you can use Craft Tex, vinyl thin fabric or anything strong thin material Instead of the envelopes.

Often I get questions about if I sell my projects, what I do with them, how I store them, how long they take to make and how I come up with the ideas.
I usually don't sell them because the hay shipping cost with insurance here from Norway. I have them displayed around my house or give them away. Usual I don`t take the time when I make my projects but if I do I tell in the video. When I get new papers the images and style usual give me the ideas what I can create with them. I also look around me in the house or outside to see what can be made and just wait for the right paper to show up :-)

Also get many questions if I am making tutorials on projects.
I always tell in the videos if there are tutorial on that specific project or it is linked in the description box bellow the video on YouTube.
If it does not say I am sorry there is no tutorial on that project.
My tutorials are only for personal use and can not be sold or used for commercial purpose because I want them to be for free for all to use

There are only place for 200 comments on this page so when I get new questions I have to delete some older questions. Sorry for that.

Hope this is helpful and that you find answer to your questions you

  1. May I ask how you come up with a project concept ...or is there a book that you would recommend to read on creative ideas.....on the process?

Answer:When I get new papers I try to see what can be done with them. Also look around me if there is something that can be made such as telephone box, radio and anything that can be made. YT is also a great inspiration. I don`t know of any books but I am shore there is some.

  2. Hi Anna it's beautiful, you said at the beginning that you had covered paper with Claudine helmer multi matte was that before cutting out or after ie similar to modge podge sealer,
Answer: I usual cut out the images first and then cover with multi matte. When there is tiny pieces it can be good to cover first but then it can be harder to cut into the paper. Modge podge is similar but a bit more " sticky". Hope this helps :-)

Do you ever have problems with tags and things falling out into the box with the album suspended as it is??? I have also been using reinforced tape (Duck Tape) on seams and bindings. Ours comes 2 inches wide but it rips quite nicely. One roll lasts forever since you use so little with each project. Can you not get it in Norway?
Answer: The first pocket tag fall out a couple of times but all the others stay in place. I have also used duck tape a couple of times but for me it works better with Tyvek envelopes and tape but thank you so much for offering me some! The roof is shown in part 10 of the mini album serial. Thank you so much for your sweet comment and have fun creating your dog house :-)

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Nancie! I am glad you find my work inspiring and making some of my projects for your self :-) I usual use 3 mm magnets on small cut outs, but if the 5 mm fits I use them. Be sure not to take any glue over the magnets where they magnetize together and you can also use some thin paper such as copy paper behind the magnet if they does not magnetize well. Hope that helps and have fun creating :-)

  38. Anne, I'm almost finished with the Gilded Lilly mini album. I recorded your videos and played them back as I worked on my album. It was just like having you there to teach me and help me out. I thank you so much for all you do for us craftters. I have a question, I'm gathering my supplies to make the Simple Stories "Documented" album for a gift and I've watched the videos you made with the "Tropical Travelogue" mini album as you suggested. On the Gilded Lilly album you advise using plain clear tape on the folds for durability, should I use it on all those folds in this album? I know it will be looked at a lot because it will be presented at a birthday celebration. What do you think? Thank you again!

Answer: Thank you so much for your sweet and kind comment! I am happy my tutorials are helpful :-) When I make albums now I usual secure them with either tape, Tyvek envelopes or vinyl so the folds won't tare. So important to make the albums durable and that it can be used over time. Have fun creating :-)

    1. Is 8 inch 16cm please? Because I don't know it
    2. would this work as a12x12?
Answer: 1. 8 inch is about 20 cm. You can search on Google to convert from inch to cm.
    2. This would work at any size you like. You can get larger papers in a office supply store or if you have 12 x 12 papers you can cut a strips of 1 inch, score at 1/2 and glue the 1/2 scored inch on the 12 x 12 paper and the other side to the previous page. I have a question about your swatch book and G45 collection pages. You only seem to have solid color swatches and none of the prints from the 6 x 6. Did you just punch out a square of the solid colors? And, aren't there 8 different papers instead of 6?
Answer:Yes I only punch out squares from the solid colours from the 6x6 paper pad because that is what I most use when I am working with other collections from Graphic 45 to match the papers when I need more solid colours. There are 6 solid and 12 pattern papers in the 6x6 and 16 different pattern in the 8x8 and 12 x 12. Hope that explains it and have fun creating :-)

I usual look at the papers and see what can be made or sometimes I have an idea and just wait for the right paper to show up. I have a question about the height of the chipboard and paper you use. You have a 14 1/2" height - and we, in the U.S. are only able to obtain chipboard at 12"x12". Do you think that piecing two pieces of chipboard and hinging on both sides would make it strong enough stand on its own? I really want to make it, but can't find any chipboard that is over 12" square. Thanks for your insight. I have made several of your projects and I always receive lavish compliments for them! So, I thank you for your generosity in sharing!
Answer: You are welcome and I am happy my tutorials are helpful! I think it is best if you glue 2 pieces of chipboard well together and offset ( shifter) the layers to get them long enough. Hope that helps and have fun creating :-)

I want to make this castle so badly, but I'm having just a little bit of trouble following the tutorial on your blog. Probably because I'm still so new to all of this, but I just can't seem to figure it out. Is there any chance you could make do a quick video and verbally explain the steps? Also, where do you get your chipboard bigger than 12x12?
Answer: When you create with chipboard it depend on how thick your chipboard is and how you glue it together to make it fit so you may have to customize the measurements a bit. When you are new to create 3D it can be a good idea to make something more easy the first times to get some experience.I am sorry but it is a lot of work making a video tutorial out of this castle so there will be no video tutorial for this but I have a couple of tutorials where I show how to glue chipboard together. Also, have you tried magnetic sheets instead of small magnets? I ordered some from Amazon that are from the Aleen (tacky glue) brand. They have not arrived yet. Your first project I ever saw was your Olde Curiosity Shoppe Album a couple years ago and I was so impressed by your talent and creativity. I am in awe of your talent Anne. I do hope you and your family are well. Please please please come back to us. You are so so missed.

  143. Dear Anne,
I miss you so much. I know you haven't been posting videos because of lack of computer. Is there any chance I could buy something from you that you made. Anything. It would be my most prized possession. I keep watching the album you made with Rare Oddities and although it doesn't look quite as technical as some of your other works of art, I still don't think I could manage it in a million years. However, you and Tim Holtz are the reason I even attempt a try at trying to be creative.
    Aloha,
    Julie

    1. Hi Julie,
Thank you so much for your kind and sweet words! I truly appreciate it :-)
Sorry I dont have the Rare Oddities album any more but anyway the shipping cost is so hay here from Norway.
I have not prioritized a new computer yet but hope in the future I can get a new one. Have bought new computers every year since I started filming and after a while they all stop working for editing videos and pictures so it is a very hay cost to make videos for me. Also Windows movie maker does not exist any more and have search for other easy video editing programs and they all seems so complicated Have tried Adobe but it takes so long to edit the videos. If anyone knows a program that is just as easy as Windows movie maker please let me know. Thanks again and have fun creating :-)

    1. The magnet strips I have tried are not strong enough but there may be other brands that is stronger. Just try on a book before you glue the paper down and see how it works. Have fun creating :-)

  146. How to make pockets for mini album and project life

I'm looking for a tut you did for a different type of pocket. Basically, you had cut slashes into a piece of paper, then flipped the paper over and added strips of paper to the back, so that the tags would not slide all the way down to the bottom. Is that tutorial on your website?
Answer: Yes you can find the tutorial by seaching for: How to make a Wallet Photo Mat mini Album with By The Sea G45 papers Part 1 on my channel. Have fun creating :-)

I wanted to let you know that I use Camtasia for video editing and I find it pretty easy to use. I wouldn't mind paying for downloads of your tutorials (I bet others wouldn't mind either) if it would help you to continue sharing your amazing work.

  151. I am happy that the reason you are not posting videos is only computer issues. I thought that something terrible might have happened and I feared the worst. I will be patient and wait for you. Currently, i am going to use your tp roll video to make matchboxes. Then, I will assemble them to make a jewelry box. I saw an advent box tutorial but have no use for advent box. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creativity with us.

  154. Scrapbooking Fussy Cutting Tutorial. Basic Beginner and Advanced

can i use a normal liquid glue that dries clear ? And if u cud tell me what i can use instead of a score board

Answer: Yes you can use a small amount of clear liqued glue insted but it can be a bit more shiny and sticky. Just try and see what works for you. Insted of a score board you can use a ruler and put on pencil marks and then use the ruler and a thin crochet needle or anything small rounded to score with. Hope that helps and have fun creating :-)

  165. Frequently asked scrapbook questions and fussy cut tutorial

I have been looking at the Bazzill Basics Prismatic cardstock that you use for album bases but it appears to have some sort of texture (a bit like it's got wet!), but the cardstock shown in your video looks smooth without texture. Could you let me know if I should go ahead and buy the textured cardstock or if I've found the wrong product?
    Answer:
For the most I use Bazzil prismatics and it is a very good quality paper. It has a bit of texture but it maybe not show up in the videos because it is just a tiny bit raised embossed. We all like different basic papers so if you are new to crafting it can be a good idea to bye one of each of some basic paper you like to try and see how they works for you. Hope that helps and have fun creating :-)
