Manly gift idea Brush box and toolbox tutorial

Hi everyone :-)
Made this "toolbox" for some carpenters that have been working outside my house. And also for a friend that like to fix cars Hope they will like it.
Used Tim Holtz dies and different medias to alter this boxes

Video

Place for 6 bottles

On the side I decorated with Tim Holtz gears and car.
All is crackle painted, embossed and rusted.

More gears on the back side.

On the other side I used the clock gears and umbrella man from Tim Holtz
Made 2 more that is just plain

Painted with different mediums and tried it look like old wood.

Made some tags where I can write a personal message.
Distressed with wood stencil.
Tool dies from Memory box

Crackle accent the tools and went over with different mediums.

Also made a gift for a painter.
An old brush on the front and some jute ribbon for the bow

Place for a bottle inside

On the backside I used rainman die and stamps from Tim Holtz.
The box i covered with cardstock and random painted with white. Distressed with Vintage photo around the edges.

Made this template from the old brush so it will fit and cut a bit on the outside
Used medium weight chipboard
The sides are cut 3 x 2 and the handle 1 x 4 ( glued 2 chipboard together for the handle)
for the bottom I just drew around the box on chipboard and cut it out.
Glued together with hinges. Cut 1 inch strips and score at 1/2.

 Toolbox tutorial
Made a template with score pall. Easy and fast :-)
Cut the same measurement for the bottom x 2 to make it study.

Used Tim Holtz 3 inch circle die tu cut out the holes in my E bosser that is wide enough.
Yes I know! Should not cut into this plate lol but I just turn it around for other cuts :-)
I used 1,9 mm thick chipboard but you can also glue 2 together.

Cut 1 inch strips and score at 1/2. Glue on.

Measurements for the side

Measurements for the handle. Cut out 2 and glue them together.

Used Tyvek envelopes and cut them in 1 1/2 inch strips . Xyron is great for the glue on this envelopes and sticks very well. Glue on front and back on all sides.
The front sides are cut 12 1/8 x 4

Glue on the top 1/2 inch from the side top.

Cut out 3/4 inch strips and scratched them on the sides and on the chipboard.
Glued on with glossy accent and glue gun to make it look like wood.

Supply list:
chipboard, scratch tool ( From Prima ) ,glue, tyvek envelope, cardstock, different brown and white paint/ mediums, dies, paint brush, twine and stamps.

  1. This is brilliant, so lovely to see something for men, as they are so difficult to make for.

  2. Lucky guys! They must have been blown away when you came out with that in hand.... What a great project - you come up with stuff I have never seen before. So creative; and you're a born teacher - your instructions are so clear and easy to follow. I've been watching a whole batch of your videos whilst I try to finish my first book. A great way to spend the weekend!

  6. Hei Anne :o)
    Klem.

  7. I too LOVE your designs. Things nobody else is doing. I also enjoy listening to you speak. I have relatives in Rovde and Allesund and I have visited Norway so you remind me of my relatives when I watch your tutorials. I also know what "Tusen takk" means - "Thousand Thanks" to you for your generous spirit and sharing heart. Debi
