Tim Holtz carousel storage tower

Had so much fun with and make this carousel :-)
Tried and make it a bit masculine, steampunk feel.
It is made of multiple layers of chipboard glued together. then used black paper on all surfaces with Claudine Hellmuth multi matte. To decorate the tower i have tried to use most of Tim Holtz products.
It took me over a month and make it but have had a lot of fun :-)
Some challenges along the way, but mostly be solved.  The carousel spins and have used the base to the old tv spinner to  get it spin / rotation around
the large chipboard I bought here in Norway, but if you can not find it where you live, you can paste multiple layers together by and offset layers until you get the length you need.

On this side i made a glass door and i used the mini lantern from Tim Holtz
Papers i used in this storage are from different TH paper pads

On this side there is drawers, shelves and a room for tissue paper.
Also made a shaddow box just for decoration lol
Used a curtain holder to hold masking tape

Tim Holtz carousel storage tower tutorial and measurements

Took pictures while I made the box and will try and explain a bit how it is put together. If you fancy and make your own storage box so you might get some ideas here.
Sorry I can not explain other measurements than this if you want to make it an other size
. Experiment and have fun :-)

Here is how it started.
Cut 1 x3 inch strip s from chipboard and lue them down as showed in the picture

Cut 3 1/4x  for the shelfs and 18 x 3 1/4 for the sides

Cut out a bit of a circle with a die. Masking tape is great so they all be the same

Take some glue between the 1 inch strips

Back side of ink pad side 18 x 13 1/4

Used papper hinges for ensure the seams. Use much glue in the middle of the hinge. Then it will be strong

Top measurement 3 1/4 x 13 1/4

Now it chould look like this :-)
t

Cut of the rest if it does not fit exact

Measurement for the drawers
Have double layered all the parts
6x 1.5 - 7 3/4 x 1.5 - 6x8

Hinges outside and inside

So I divided it into several rooms

shelves drawers to despair  the drawers

8 1/8 x 6

Glued on hinger on top and under. Covered the top with black paper that i glued on with Claudine Hellmuth multi matte

Cut 18 x 6 1/8 x 2 for the back side for the drawers and glue them on each side with hinges
For the left side cut 18 x 6

pu i chipboard between the shelves and drawer so the drawe get a bitt space

Seen from the top

Seen from the bottom

Top Part
cut  15 x 15 5/8 and then 8 1/8 to fit the opening for one side of the drawers

Under
Cut  15 x 15 5/8 and 3 inch for the sides
Also 3 inch inside and on the sides about 1 1/2 inch from the sides to make it stronger so it can hold the top part. Glue down with hinges

Glue the hinges well

 top shelf
Cut 18 x 18 5/8. I 1/4 for the sides

Cut 3 inch strios and glue them around the openings on the top wit hinges.
Make the rooms as big as you want ore make it like this

Have cut i inch strips and glued them with hinges on left sde to create room for shelfs

Top shelf cut 12 x 12 and 1 1/4 for the sides

Glass door 18 x 9 x 2 and put acetate or glass inside. If you use glass you have to build the inside up with 1/2 inch strips
and thin cut out i inch around

Sorry i forgot to take picture for the back of the cabinet
The measurement is 18 x 15 1/4
Then i cut out 3 inch strips for the insides and shelfs
Outside left and right is cut at 3 1/8
Made slider doors and cut them at 3 x 5 1/2
and then made glide track of 1/4 inch strips on both sides top and bottom

Here is the measurement for the other side bottom opening
18 x 4

Used TH tissue paper and glued it down with multi matte for the shutter curtain
Then stamped, embossed and went over with metallic stains
Then cut it in 1 inch strips. Binded it with small rings

The measurements may be slightly different from the thickness of the chipboard you are using
and how many layers you use

have some problems to express myself in writing but
hope this is a bit helpful and that the explaining is not to hard to understand.
